NASA’s InSight (Interior Exploration using Seismic Investigations, Geodesy and Heat Transport) Mars lander takes continuous weather measurements (temperature, wind, pressure) on the surface of Mars at Elysium Planitia, a flat, smooth plain near Mars’ equator. This data is reported per Mars day (known as a Sol), which is approximately 37 minutes longer than an Earth day 🌎.
🚀PAGE 1 presents detailed data on the current Mars Sol (measured from the InSight landing date of November 26, 2018), including:
🌡High, Low, and Average Temperature (°F or °C depending on your watch settings)
💨 Average wind speed and direction (m/s or mph)
✔ Average atmospheric pressure (measured as inHg -- Earth standard is 29.92 inHg!)
🚀PAGE 2 presents 4-day Summary weather for the previous 4 Mars Sols, including:
🌡High and Low Temperature
💨 Average wind speed and direction (m/s or mph)
✔ Average atmospheric pressure (inHg -- Earth standard is 29.92 inHg!)
🚀PAGE 3 presents a wind rose graph of the current Sol to show the wind variation on Mars
Please note: Mars weather is typically updated daily, but due to delays in transmissions (Mars is really far away!), some weather information may be missing or unavailable for periods of time.
