MeltdownMonitor helps predict and prevent restlessness and meltdowns by monitoring changes in heart rate. A parent or caregiver can configure normal levels, and when an abnormal event is detected, the caregiver receives immediate push notification.

The app contains charts with all historical data organized by date and time, which can be used as another piece of the puzzle for positive behavior support (PBS) or applied behavior analysis (ABA therapy).

The trigger for challenging behavior may often be related to inner frustration, unpleasant emotions or hypersensitivity to sensory stimuli. Quantified data about heart rate changes may be used to spot recurring patterns and correlated with events happening at that time. This addresses the difficulties faced by people with severe autism or intellectual disability combined with challenging behavior.

Two different event levels may be configured in the app: one indicating increased restlessness, and one indicating possible start of a meltdown. Current status can be viewed in the app in real time along with a button to quickly disable/enable alerts, used to switch between situations where fast heartbeat is expected (like during intense physical activity) and where it is not (like during sleep time).
